Would you travel with 5 dogs???

We made the decision to head to SC tonight for the Christmas break. Normally our crew travels very well and the only one who is in the least bit freakish is Morgan...of course! Well...let's just say that tonight, the only GOOD one out of the bunch was the Bailey! Not that this suprises us very much. Bailey is a very good dog all the way around. What suprised us was that Goo, Zeke, and Epic were all crazy tonight! Epic literally rode the whole way in Erica's lap except for the 10 minutes she ate dinner. He was panting, squeaking his nose, and wouldn't stay still. At one point he just tried to smother her! He wanted kept trying to get in my lap too but driving with a 40 lb border collie on my lap...No! Zeke was giving the hairy eyeball to the other dogs for the entire ride. He also decided he wanted to ride on top of the Christmas presents. Yep, on top of them! Every 10-15 mins "Zeke Off" "Zeke Off" "Zeke Off". Goo, well, sweet boy couldn't figure out what side of the car he wasnted to ride on! He kept going from the right to the left. Goo also has to have a window down at least two inches otherwise he is a complete mess. By the time we got to my mom's house, the neurotic Jack was on my lap and Erica still had Epic on hers. However, about 5 minutes from my mother's house all the dogs realized where we were headed. Chaos! Zeke, Goo, Bailey are all squeaking noses and whining. Zeke is trying to get into the front seat at the same times as Goo in order to be the first ones out of the car. Morgan starts thrashing and squealing and Epic is going wild! I should add that all the dogs love staying at my mom's house because she has a massive backyard, dogs live at the house next to and hehind hers (lots of fence running) and our crew loves playing with her two dogs. Ok...let me be honest...they love playing with Abby. Arthur spends all his time trying to hump them (at least he is neutered) like a dirty old man.

Moral of the story: No matter how big your car is, when you are transporting 5 dogs, 2 humans, items for 4 nights/5 days, Christmas presents (a lot of them)- get a rooftop carrier and crate all the dogs!

Holiday greeting cards

I know I know...we should have had our cards out at the beginning of December. *sigh* But really...we ran out of time!
In December:
1. I kept my sister's baby for a week.
2. My agency just had an audit
3. My agency had our Christmas party
4. My niece had her 3rd birthday party
5. I've started a new contracting job
6. Erica and I had to have at least a couple of days together. Actually, I think we only ended up with one day where we had nothing to do for at least 10 hours together.
7. One of my best friends went through a break up and needed us
8. Ummm...Flyball...although we did not go to a tournament this month. It was held the weekend of my Niece's 3rd birthday.
9. Erica had finals!! Thank God she's done with classes...for now!
10. My cousins Katie and Samantha came to visit! I had not seen Samantha since my sister's wedding which was in 2001.

But! We went electronic this year. Not just a little e-card though. Nope...not us :-) Just wait! It's waiting on Erica's final approval now :-)

Off on a new...

Well...I'm off on a new something! I've decided that it's time to start blogging about what's up with us! We are pretty busy and for some reason people complain that they don't hear from us enough...ummm...probably because they don't! I know that I can update facebook at will. However, I really wanted there to be a one stop shop for people to check to see what was going on these days. I've also decided that if I am going to be in insomniac...I might as well have a blog!! We will cover a lot of things in this....I will talk about training the dogs...work...family...etc. However, just be forwarned- I'm not going to be posting pictures of my neice and nephews because this is not a private blog right now. And, when I talk about them...it will be with nick names!!
